After completing analysis on our data, we have arrived at a conclusion! After calculating the approximate storage for all of our trees, we averaged the carbon dioxide sequestered in tonnes for each street, and ran diversity indices (a shannon index and 2 variants of the simpsons index) for each one and plotted the results.
The conclusion? A weak positive correlation between diversity of tree species and carbon dioxide sequestration. So, higher level of diversity is correlated to more carbon dioxide being sequestered. Woo!
We can’t wait to present it to you guys and also a bunch of fourth graders.
