Yooo….

Last night we started working on our project and determining our next steps.  In our project proposal we needed to identify our proposed solution and state exactly what we would be doing.  We came to the conclusion that we outline a curriculum for an after school group that could be implemented.  We hope this will include lessons as well as a hands on activity in which kids can enjoy gardening and learning about nature.  We will also propose a sketch of a garden which could be a part of the after school program.  We also would like to test some children on their knowledge of plant life,  before and after an interaction with them.  We hope that in the time we spend with these kids we would help them learn more about gardening, and if teaching them even for a short time works.  This would be difficult to implement long term as we do not have the time to teach on gardening for a whole so it would be necessary for the school to undertake this process.  The final step of our project will be to present our ideas and research to a local school, which we are in communication with currently.  We are discussing these options with the principals at Franklin M.S. Lowell elementary and Longfellow elementary schools.  At this point we are waiting to hear back from these schools if we could present there.  We are working on developing activities to present at the after school program, and also on building a curriculum that we could share with the school.
