Yesterday, we volunteered at puente del pueblo and taught them about the importance of where their food comes from. This was a difficult process, because these kids did not listen very well. We did the pre-test, the ecological simulator, demonstrated planting and then gave them a post-test. The kids seemed to enjoy their time with us and their average scores improved by 1.6 points.
We received answers to a quiz question “Three things you can do the help the environment?” with a response of “Don’t be a lightweight and get up and plant all the seeds that you have”. We had a good laugh from the responses of these youth.
These are pictures of our time at puente, and the work we did with these kids. Also, we got one more silly response “that its all relative”. This morning we worked as a group preparing to present with Ms. Melton from Lowell elementary. We have not yet heard a response that we will be able to meet with her on Tuesday morning, but we will be ready to present our work to her that day. That’s all for now.
